Miniml Celebrating Women-Owned Stockists on International Women’s Day
At Miniml, we believe in the power of women-led businesses to drive meaningful change in the refill and sustainability movement. Co-founded by Emma, Miniml is proud to work alongside incredible women who make refill shopping more accessible in communities across the UK and beyond. On International Women’s Day, we’re shining a light on the inspiring women behind refill stores that stock Miniml and champion a cleaner, greener future. One of those businesses is Refill Mill in Essex, where Miniml has become their most popular product range. “Miniml is our most popular range at Refill Mill! Customers love the products as they are highly effective with divine natural fragrances, proving that sustainability can be both accessible and powerful!” says the founder at Refill Mill. Their commitment to making sustainable living easy and enjoyable aligns perfectly with our mission at Miniml. Another fantastic woman-led business making waves in the refill world is REco Store in Tiptree, Essex. Founded six years ago, this shop operates out of a reused, solar-powered shipping container and has already refilled over 100,000 plastic bottles—an impact that’s hard to even quantify when it comes to food refills! “I chose to stock Miniml Refills because, firstly, I can send back the empty drums for refilling (zero plastic waste) and in doing this, I am supporting another UK business. Secondly, their products are green and clean, and customers love them,” says the founder of REco Store. Her dedication to sustainability and the local community proves the small changes that add up to a big impact. We also want to celebrate Sero, the only refill shop in Aberystwyth, West Wales, founded and run single-handedly by Tori. Starting the business with her own savings, she has built something truly special, offering a wide range of refills—from cleaning and body care to food and eco-friendly products. On top of that, she runs not-for-profit recycling schemes, including Blister Pack recycling for medicine packets, with hopes to expand even further. With the help of her friends and two mums, Tori has created a thriving space for sustainability in her local community. Another incredible women-led business making waves in the refill world is Arborfill, a Berkshire-based refill delivery service founded by the passionate and dedicated Carly. Arborfill helps to create healthier living and working environments by tackling the issue of single-use plastics head-on. With refillable, non-toxic products at the heart of the business, Carly also works to connect her community with local products, such as eggs from nearby farms, raw honey from local beekeepers, and Berkshire-roasted coffee beans. "Since starting my business three years ago, I've found that people are becoming more and more keen to support ethical, independent businesses that are good for them and the planet. I’m very happy to be able to facilitate this," Carly shares. Lastly, we'd love to give a shout-out to Sage, a zero-waste shop incorporated into a health food store in Surbiton. Founded by a local resident passionate about giving back to her community, Sage offers plastic-free solutions and high-quality, ethically sourced products that are good for both the planet and people. "If we really want to be part of the change for a better world, we need to make it as easy as possible for people to shop without single-use plastic," she shares. These are just a few of the incredible women who are our stockists and the brilliant women-led refill stores making a difference. Their passion, dedication, and hard work are shaping a more sustainable future, proving that small businesses can make a big impact. Here's to celebrating them today and every day!
Learn moreThe Greenhouse: Miniml's refill partner championing sustainability
We love celebrating our incredible refill partners who are making a real difference in their communities. One standout is The Greenhouse in Ripon—a zero-waste refill shop that has been leading the charge for sustainability since Spring 2022. With their closed-loop ethos and commitment to eco-friendly living, The Greenhouse has become a hub for locals looking to make greener choices. Here’s how they’re transforming their community, one refill at a time—and why we’re proud to call them a Miniml partner. The Greenhouse: A refill shop with a mission Nestled in the historic city of Ripon, The Greenhouse is more than a shop - It’s a movement. Born during the Covid lockdown, the shop’s founder was inspired to change their family’s wasteful habits and embrace a simpler, greener lifestyle. “I stopped commuting from Yorkshire to London and decided to create something meaningful within my community,” they explain. The result? A beautiful space combining refill stations, houseplants, and sustainable gifts, all designed to make eco-friendly living more accessible. Refilling and reducing waste in Ripon At the heart of The Greenhouse is a mission to make sustainable choices simple and effective. Every product on their shelves is handpicked to ensure it’s free from greenwashing, effective, and genuinely eco-friendly. Thanks to their refill system, The Greenhouse has already refilled over 5,365 containers, preventing thousands of single-use plastic bottles from reaching landfills. Beyond refills, they also stock sustainable alternatives to everyday items like cling film, sponges, and other single-use products—helping the people of Ripon embrace greener habits. A thriving community hub The Greenhouse isn’t just a place to shop, it’s a space to connect, collaborate, and grow. In 2023, their contributions to the community were recognised with a St Wilfrid’s Star award, which celebrates businesses making a positive impact in Ripon. “Ripon is a historic city, but it’s also full of exciting indie businesses,” says the founder. “At The Greenhouse, we’ve built a reputation for supporting local initiatives and creating a real sense of community.” From working with other local businesses to inspiring residents to adopt sustainable practices, The Greenhouse has become a cornerstone of Ripon’s independent scene. Why The Greenhouse chooses Miniml From the very start, Miniml has been a natural fit for The Greenhouse’s refill offering. “As a Yorkshire-based shop, it’s great to partner with a local manufacturer,” the founder shares. “I tried Miniml’s products at home first and was so impressed. The feedback from our customers has been amazing, especially on the laundry liquid, toilet cleaner, and hair products!” Miniml’s closed-loop system is a perfect match for The Greenhouse’s eco ethos. With a convenient weekly collection route and the ability to return empty containers for cleaning and reuse, our partnership is helping reduce waste on a larger scale, one refill at a time. Celebrating sustainability, one refill at a time For The Greenhouse’s founder, the biggest joy comes from watching customers embrace sustainable living. “Helping someone take their first step towards going green and seeing them return to try more products is incredibly rewarding,” they say. “It’s also amazing to learn from our regulars, many of whom share their own green tips and ideas!” A Shared Vision for a greener future We’re inspired by partners like The Greenhouse, who show that small businesses can make a big impact. By offering refill solutions, supporting their local community, and fostering collaboration, The Greenhouse is a shining example of how sustainability and community go hand in hand. Whether it’s refilling laundry liquid, switching to plastic-free alternatives, or simply encouraging others to think green, The Greenhouse is proof that every refill counts in creating a brighter, more sustainable future. Learn more2025 Ins & Outs for a Clean & Sustainable Home
As we step into 2025, sustainability continues to lead the way in how we live, shop, and even clean our homes. The focus this year is all about doing more with less—less waste, fewer harmful chemicals, and a lighter impact on the planet. But don’t worry—keeping your home clean sustainably doesn’t mean compromising on results or convenience. With the right approach and products, it’s easier than ever to maintain a spotless home while staying eco-friendly. Here’s what’s in (and what’s out) for 2025 when it comes to cleaning sustainably. What’s In: Refillable Cleaning Products What’s Out: Single-Use Plastics Wave goodbye to endless plastic bottles piling up in your recycling bin. Refillable cleaning products are officially the norm, and brands like Miniml are leading the charge. For example, our Multi-Surface Cleaner not only tackles grease and grime but also comes in refillable packaging. With our 1L and 5L refill options and free returns to get your packaging cleaned and reused again, you’ve got a cleaning solution that works for both your home and the environment. Refilling isn’t just good for the planet—it’s good for your bank balance too. You’ll save money by reusing containers and purchasing refills in bulk. What’s In: Plant-Based Cleaning Solutions What’s Out: Harsh Chemicals This year, it’s all about swapping out toxic chemicals for plant-based, biodegradable alternatives. Cleaning products made with natural ingredients are gentler on your skin, safer for your family, and better for the environment. Miniml’s Wild Rhubarb Washing-Up Liquid is a perfect example. It’s tough on grease but made with eco-friendly ingredients that won’t harm waterways. Plus, it smells amazing— made with 100% natural essential oils it's like a little burst of summer every time you do the washing-up. What’s In: Laundry That Loves the Planet What’s Out: Microplastic Pollution Your laundry routine might seem harmless, but traditional detergents and synthetic fabrics can contribute to microplastic pollution. In 2025, more households are switching to sustainable laundry options. This Pink Dragonfruit & Orchid Laundry Liquid is a standout choice. It’s made with biodegradable ingredients, packaged in refillable containers, and smells absolutely divine. Pair it with a Guppyfriend Washing Bag to reduce microplastic shedding from synthetic clothes. What’s In: Minimalist Cleaning Supplies What’s Out: Overloaded Cupboards Gone are the days of cluttered cleaning cupboards filled with a different product for every surface. In 2025, the trend is towards multipurpose cleaning solutions and a “less is more” mentality. Miniml’s Multi-Surface Cleaner and White Vinegar Cleaner are all you need for a sparkling home. Add a set of reusable cloths, and you’re good to go—no need for wasteful kitchen roll or an overstock of sprays. What’s In: Local and Ethical Brands What’s Out: Mass-Produced, Carbon-Heavy Products Supporting local, ethical brands that prioritise sustainability is a big trend this year. Miniml, for instance, is a UK-based company dedicated to creating zero-waste products that are kind to the planet. Furthermore, our sustainable manufacturing practices include 100% biodegradable formulations, natural fragrances, and our production powered completely by solar power! By choosing local brands, you’re not just reducing the carbon footprint of your purchases—you’re supporting businesses that share your values. What’s In: Closing the Loop What’s Out: Wasteful Consumption The circular economy is gaining momentum, and it’s not just about recycling—it’s about rethinking the entire lifecycle of a product. Miniml’s closed-loop refill system makes it easy to return your empty containers to be cleaned, refilled, and reused, ensuring nothing goes to waste. Sustainability Made Simple Keeping your home clean sustainably in 2025 is all about making small, intentional changes that add up to a big difference. Learn more2024 Wrap-Up with Miniml: How Did We Save 302 Tonnes of Plastic?
As 2024 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a year full of achievements and progress at Miniml. From saving over millions of plastic bottles from landfill to expanding our production and launching exciting new products, it’s been a year to remember. Your support has been at the heart of everything we’ve achieved. Let’s dive into the key milestones that defined 2024—and how we’re setting the stage for an even bigger 2025. The Closed Loop Impact: 302 Tonnes of Plastic Saved Sustainability is at the core of everything we do, and this year, we’ve collectively saved 302 tonnes of plastic—equivalent to more than 8 million single-use plastic bottles—from ending up in landfills. We started small, providing bulk refills of our products to local UK refill stores. Independent shops have been vital to local neighbourhoods and towns where eco-conscious people can find sustainable products and reuse existing packaging, eliminating any waste from the supply chain. Our mission to making Miniml a leading zero-waste brand brought us to rapid growth in the past few years, with our refillable products and Closed Loop system now being available to everyone in the UK. Thanks to growing accessibility of our products, we have managed to save a record amount of single-use plastic in one year! You can now find our products in your local refill stores, online, as well as our first big supermarket launch - Morrisons! Every refill, every sustainable choice, and every shout-out has contributed to this incredible achievement. By choosing Miniml, you’re not just reducing waste; you’re actively creating a cleaner, greener future. Expanding Our Horizons In October, we made a bold move—literally. We upgraded to a state-of-the-art 32,000sqft warehouse, which has allowed us to scale our production capacity by five times! This new facility is a game-changer, enabling us to meet growing demand and expand our markets while staying true to our eco-friendly values. It’s not just about growth; it’s about creating a foundation to deliver more sustainable solutions in 2025 and beyond. New Laundry Scent: Pink Dragonfruit & Orchid We love bringing fresh, innovative products to our Miniml community, and this year we introduced a brand-new scent in our laundry care range: Pink Dragonfruit & Orchid. This vibrant, floral fragrance has quickly become a favourite, turning laundry day into a more enjoyable experience. If you haven’t tried it yet, now’s the perfect time to add it to your eco-friendly routine. Miniml Hits the Shelves: Aldi and Morrison’s Partnerships One of the most exciting highlights of 2024 was bringing Miniml to more people through retail partnerships. In October, we had a one-week pilot launch in Aldi, followed by a three-week rollout in Morrison’s in December! These collaborations are key to making sustainable, refillable products more accessible to households across the UK, whilst our refills still being available online and with independent refill shops nationwide. Watch this space—we’re just getting started! Looking Ahead: What’s Next for Miniml in 2025 2024 has been a year of growth, impact, and innovation, but we’re not stopping here. As we move into 2025, we’re focused on expanding our reach, introducing more sustainable products, and continuing to inspire positive change. None of this would have been possible without our incredible community—you. Your support, feedback, and shared commitment to sustainability drive everything we do. Want to stay in the loop? Learn moreEasy fabric care this winter
As autumn settles in, wardrobes shift to cosy woollens, luxurious silks, durable cottons, and trusty outerwear. Each fabric has its quirks, and knowing how to care for them keeps clothes looking fresh and lasting longer. Our Pink Dragonfruit + Orchid Laundry Care Range makes fabric care both effective and sustainable. Its gentle, non-bio formula is biodegradable, cold wash-friendly, and infused with a natural fragrance that lingers for longer. Wool: Keep it cosy Woollen jumpers, scarves, and blankets are autumn staples, but improper washing can lead to shrinkage or loss of shape. How to wash: Hand-wash in lukewarm water or machine-wash on a cold, gentle cycle using Miniml Non-Bio Laundry Liquid. Drying tip: Lay flat on a towel to dry and reshape while damp to prevent stretching. Pro tip: Skip the fabric softener—it can coat wool fibres and reduce their insulating properties. Silk: Treat it with care Silk’s delicate fibres require a gentle touch to maintain their signature sheen. How to wash: Hand-wash in cool water or machine-wash on a delicate cycle with a mesh laundry bag. Drying tip: Avoid wringing; instead, air dry in the shade to prevent fading. Fresh finish: Use Miniml’s Pink Dragonfruit + Orchid formula for a subtle, long-lasting scent that doesn’t overpower silk’s natural elegance. Cotton: Everyday essential Cotton is a hardworking fabric, but proper care keeps it soft and vibrant for longer. How to wash: Stick to a cool or cold cycle with Miniml’s gentle detergent to avoid weakening fibres. Separating tip: Always separate whites, colours, and darks to prevent colour bleed. Drying tip: Air drying reduces wear and keeps cotton soft and durable. Outerwear: Ready for the elements From waterproof jackets to wool coats, outerwear faces rain, mud, and daily wear in autumn. Regular cleaning and reproofing help keep them in top shape. How to clean: Machine-wash washable coats on a cold, gentle cycle with Miniml’s Non-Bio Laundry Liquid. For non-machine washable items, spot-clean stains with a damp cloth and a small amount of detergent. Drying tip: Air dry coats to avoid damaging water-resistant layers. Reproofing outerwear:Reproofing restores the water-repellent coating on jackets, keeping them weather-ready. Choose a waterproofing spray designed for your jacket’s material. Wash the jacket first to remove dirt and oils. Once clean and slightly damp, spray the waterproofing treatment evenly across the fabric, focusing on seams and high-wear areas. Allow the jacket to air dry fully before use. Reproofing once or twice a year ensures coats stay functional through wet, windy weather. Why Miniml is the go-to choice Our Pink Dragonfruit + Orchid Laundry Range is a game-changer for sustainable fabric care: Gentle and effective: Safe for all fabrics, including wool, silk, and delicate garments. Eco-conscious: 100% biodegradable and made with plant-based ingredients. Cold wash friendly: Saves energy while being tough on dirt. Sustainable packaging: Refillable and part of a closed-loop system to reduce waste. Long-lasting scent: Natural fragrance that’s fresh but never overpowering. Autumn fabric care made easy With the right care and Miniml’s eco-friendly range, even the most delicate fabrics can survive and thrive this autumn. From wool jumpers to silk blouses and waterproof jackets, thoughtful washing and maintenance keep clothes looking great and lasting longer.

Learn moreEco-Friendly Tips for Looking After Your Winter Clothes with Miniml
As the days get shorter and the temperature drops, it’s time to bring out your cosiest winter wardrobe—jumpers, cardigans, and coats that keep you snug through the chilly months. But caring for these winter staples requires a little extra love, especially if you want them to last for years to come. The good news? You can keep your clothes fresh and fabulous while staying eco-friendly with the help of Miniml’s planet-friendly products. Here are some tips and creative ideas on how to care for your winter clothes using sustainable methods and Miniml’s green cleaning solutions. 1. Gentle Washing with Non-Bio Laundry Liquid Winter clothes, especially wool and knitwear, can be delicate and need a gentle touch. To keep your jumpers and cardigans soft and looking like new, it’s essential to avoid harsh detergents. Miniml Solution: Use Miniml’s Non-Bio Laundry Liquid for a gentle yet effective clean. Our plant-based formula is tough on dirt but soft on fibres, making it perfect for delicate fabrics. Plus, it’s free from enzymes and harsh chemicals that can damage your woolly jumpers. Wash on a cool, delicate cycle to prevent shrinking and maintain softness. Eco tip: Always air-dry your knitwear flat to prevent stretching and keep its shape intact. 2. Freshen Up Coats with White Vinegar Your winter coats can take a beating—think about the rain, mud, and daily wear they endure! But did you know white vinegar is a powerful, natural cleaner that can freshen up coats without the need for dry cleaning? Miniml Solution: Mix Miniml’s White Vinegar with water and use it as a natural deodoriser for wool or puffer coats. Simply spray lightly on areas that need refreshing (like collars and armpits) and hang your coat up to air out. The vinegar will neutralise odours without leaving behind any chemical residue. Eco tip: Spot clean small stains with white vinegar and a damp cloth to avoid over-washing your coats, helping them last longer. 3. Softer Fabrics with Eco-Friendly Fabric Conditioner Heavy-duty winter fabrics can sometimes feel a bit stiff after washing, especially coats and thick jumpers. To keep them feeling soft and cosy, a good fabric conditioner can work wonders—just make sure it’s eco-friendly! Miniml Solution: Add a splash of Miniml’s Fabric Conditioner to your laundry cycle to help keep your winter clothing soft and reduce static, without any harmful chemicals or artificial fragrances. It’s biodegradable, so it’s gentle on both your clothes and the planet. Eco tip: For natural softness, dry your clothes outside on a crisp day. The cool air will leave them fresh without the need for tumble-drying. 4. Remove Stains Naturally with Washing Up Liquid Sometimes winter clothes get messy—whether it's a splash of hot chocolate on your jumper or dirt on your favourite scarf. For an eco-friendly stain solution, grab a bottle of Miniml’s Eco Washing Up Liquid! Miniml Solution: Our Washing Up Liquid isn’t just for dishes. Apply a small amount to any stubborn stains on your clothes before washing, and watch the plant-based formula lift out stains without damaging delicate fabrics. It's perfect for spot-treating food stains, mud, or even makeup marks. Eco tip: Always test a small, inconspicuous area first to make sure your fabric reacts well to the treatment. 5. Eco Hand Soap for Hand-Washing Delicates Some of your most precious winter items, like cashmere jumpers or silk scarves, may need to be hand-washed. To avoid harsh chemicals, try using a gentle, eco-friendly soap. Miniml Solution: Our Eco Hand Soap is perfect for hand-washing delicate fabrics. It’s free from sulphates, meaning it’s gentle on sensitive fabrics and your skin. Just add a small amount to lukewarm water, gently agitate your clothes, and let the natural ingredients do their thing. Eco tip: Avoid wringing your clothes after hand-washing. Instead, roll them in a towel to gently squeeze out excess water, then lay them flat to dry. 6. Store Your Winter Clothes Sustainably At the end of the season, it's important to store your winter clothes properly to keep them in tip-top shape for next year. Moths love natural fibres like wool, so make sure you protect your favourite pieces. Miniml Solution: Before storing your winter wardrobe, give everything a fresh wash with Miniml’s Non-Bio Laundry Liquid and Fabric Conditioner to ensure your clothes are clean and odour-free. You can also spritz them with a white vinegar solution to naturally repel moths. It’s tough on stains but gentle on the environment, ensuring your oven is spotless and ready for all your autumn cooking. Learn moreHow to Keep Your Kitchen Clean and Fruit Fly-Free This Summer
Summer is the perfect time for enjoying fresh fruits, cooking up delicious meals, and spending quality time in the kitchen. However, warm weather can bring about some unwanted guests—pesky fruit flies! Keeping your kitchen clean and free from these tiny invaders can be a challenge, but with Miniml's eco-friendly tips, you'll have a spotless kitchen without harming the environment. Let's dive into our guide on maintaining a clean kitchen and keeping fruit flies at bay this summer. 1. Regular Cleaning Routines 🧹 A clean kitchen is the first step in preventing fruit flies. These pests are attracted to leftover food particles and sticky residues. Eco-Friendly Tips: Daily Wipe-Downs: Use a natural, biodegradable cleaner like Miniml’s all-purpose cleaner to wipe down counters, stove tops, and other surfaces daily. This removes any food particles that could attract fruit flies. Clean Up Spills Immediately: Don’t let spills sit. Clean them up right away to avoid attracting flies. Use a mixture of water and white vinegar for an eco-friendly solution. 2. Proper Fruit and Vegetable Storage 🍇🍒🍏 Fruit flies are particularly attracted to ripening and overripe fruits and vegetables. Proper storage is key to keeping them away. Eco-Friendly Tips: Refrigerate When Possible: Store fruits and vegetables in the refrigerator whenever possible. This slows down the ripening process and makes them less attractive to fruit flies. Use Produce Bags: If you need to keep fruits out, use breathable produce bags to store them. This reduces the chance of attracting fruit flies while still allowing the fruit to ripen properly. 3. Compost Smartly ♻️ While composting is fantastic for the environment, it can attract fruit flies if not managed properly. Eco-Friendly Tips: Compost Bin Maintenance: Keep your compost bin tightly sealed and empty it regularly. Rinse it out with a vinegar solution to keep it clean. Freeze Scraps: If you’re not ready to take out the compost, store kitchen scraps in the freezer until you are. This prevents fruit flies from getting to them. 4. Natural Fruit Fly Traps 🪤 If fruit flies do make their way into your kitchen, natural traps can help you catch and eliminate them without using harmful chemicals. Eco-Friendly Tips: Apple Cider Vinegar Trap: Fill a small bowl with apple cider vinegar and a few drops of dish soap. The vinegar attracts the flies, and the soap reduces the surface tension, causing them to drown. Fruit Trap: Place a piece of overripe fruit in a bowl and cover it with plastic wrap. Poke a few small holes in the wrap. Flies will enter the bowl and get trapped inside. 5. Maintain a Clean Sink and Drains 🚰 Fruit flies can breed in the gunk that builds up in your sink and drains, so keeping these areas clean is crucial. Eco-Friendly Tips: Clean Drains Weekly: Pour a mixture of boiling water, baking soda, and vinegar down your drains weekly to clean out any residue. Sink Clean-Up: Rinse your sink thoroughly after washing dishes and use a natural cleaner to wipe it down. A paste of baking soda and water works wonders on stainless steel sinks. 6. Keep Garbage Under Control 🗑️ Garbage is a major attractant for fruit flies, so managing it properly is essential. Eco-Friendly Tips: Take Out Trash Regularly: Don’t let trash sit in your kitchen for too long. Take it out daily if possible, especially in the summer. Clean Your Bin: Wash your garbage bin regularly with an eco-friendly cleaner or a mixture of vinegar and water to eliminate any lingering smells or residues. 7. Use Essential Oils 🌸 Certain essential oils are known to repel fruit flies and can keep your kitchen smelling fresh. Eco-Friendly Tips: Essential Oil Spray: Mix water with a few drops of essential oils like lemongrass, peppermint, or eucalyptus in a spray bottle. Spray this mixture around your kitchen to repel flies. Bonus tip - Miniml surface cleaners are ready-made with 100% natural essential oils! Essential Oil Diffuser: Use a diffuser with essential oils to keep the air fresh and fruit flies away. Keeping your kitchen clean and fruit fly-free during the warm summer months doesn't have to be a daunting task. With these eco-friendly tips, you can enjoy a spotless kitchen without compromising your commitment to sustainability. Regular cleaning, proper food storage, and natural repellents are your best allies in this battle. So, roll up your sleeves, embrace these green cleaning habits, and enjoy a fly-free, sparkling kitchen all summer long! 🌿

Summer is here, and with it comes the promise of sunny days, beach holidays, and outdoor adventures. While we all love soaking up the sun, the summer season can be tough on our hair. Why Summer Can Be Tough on Your Hair Before we dive into the solutions, let's understand the common hair woes of the summer season: UV Exposure: Just like your skin, your hair can suffer from too much sun. UV rays can break down the hair's protein structure, leading to dry, brittle, and discoloured strands.
